International Freight - Customs Requirements

When shipping internationally there are specific requirements that must be met for customs clearance.

This has becoming increasingly important over the past few months.

The key details that must be captured are:

  • HS Code

  • Item Description

  • Item Composition

  • Country of Origin

  • Manufacturer ID

These details are captured within Indigo8 and can be sent through to Starshipit or to your 3PL

Product setup

Within the product module you can add

  • HS Code

  • Item Description

  • Item composition

 

To do this open the product screen and search for the item that you wish to update.

The item description will be taken from the product category

Selecting the small arrow on the top right of the screen will allow you to see the HS code and the composition fields.

Supplier Setup

Each product that you ship will also need to be assigned a maker.

The set up of the Maker will determine the Country of Origin and the Manufacturer ID

Starshipit and 3PL

If you are using Starshipit these details will be send when your shipment is created.

If you are shipping via a 3PL the details can be included in your shipping request that is sent to them.
