How to add product descriptions

There are 2 ways to add product descriptions. Select the option that works for you.

Please note, we hold the same description per style & colour.
If you want to manage different descriptions per colour and you only have 1 style set up, it is usually best practise to manually update that in Shopify. Otherwise, if your styles are set up to be 1 style per colour, then below the below steps.

OPTION 1 - update product description on website updater

1. Click EDIT on the product that you want to add your descriptions to.

2. On the far right box please enter your descriptions

OPTION 2 - update product descriptions in product search

This option is good to use as it stores your product descriptions against the product. If you were to create a new website later down the track, the descriptions will be saved against the products.

1. Open product search up & locate your product/collection

2. There will be a column called Web Description. If you don’t see this contact someone at Indigo8 to turn this on for you.

3. Paste your description in that box & hit save once done

4. The final result will look something like the below.

5. You can then drag your product to the website updater and the final result should look something like this:

Now you are ready to export to Shopify!

Please note: if you have exported your product to Shopify already and have updated your description in the system, you will need to re-export the product again. It’s important to know if you have made adjustments on the product in Shopify and if you re-export again, you will run the risk of data being overwritten.
